Next to me are others at the urinal within various stages of ‘passing’ . When Persimmon Blackbridge first asked me to do this self portrait about the intersection of disability and technology in my life for the ‘Borg Again’ Exhibition a Society for disability Arts and Culture project, I said no. I don’t relate to this. It has nothing to do with me, and besides I‘m not disabled I’m just dumb. Anyway I guess she needed a dumb artist to represent the stupid people, because nobody likes to talk about being stupid. I added gender to the equation and cyborg started make sense. |
